Square the top edges

Add backing allowance

Press all seams flat

Trim trailing threads

Measure across the center and borders to verify square corners. Trued edges ensure uniform rolling on the longarm frame without ripple distortion.

Supply backing fabric and batting measuring at least four inches larger than your pieced top along all four outer margins.

Press seams toward darker prints or open junctions. Flat construction protects needle integrity and prevents hopping foot deflection.

Snip stray dark threads from the top and reverse side. Clean edges keep loose fibers from shadowing through pale background blocks.
